A New Voice for Fort Worth

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been working with some of the other extremely talented bloggers in Fort Worth to set up a joint effort site, one that covers the City from nearly every possible angle, but keeps the flexibility and humor that you’re used to from reading our individual blogs.

I’m VERY happy to announce:

WestandClear.com

Over the last year of doing this, I’ve realized that I wasn’t going to be able to cover everything myself, both because of a lack of time, but also because I just can’t possibly be as informed or talented as a group of people would be. West and Clear is the answer to that. Please, go check it out, add it to your favorites, and be sure to come back and visit often!

Cowtown Chronicles isn’t going anywhere, I’m just going to transition it to more of a personal/opinion blog. The podcast, however, WILL be moving over to westandclear.com. I just don’t have the creative juice to produce and record two separate podcasts every week without them being repetitive and boring. I’ll try to make it as easy as possible for everyone to transition to the new podcast feed.

Dogfighting Finally Being Investigated

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

There’s a great story today in the S-T about the increased profile and awareness of dogfighting in the law enforcement community. My only quibble with the story is one of the section headings, “Dogfighters as Victims.” NO ONE involved with this despicable activity is a victim, no matter what happens to them because of their involvement. As the old saying goes: “The wages of sin is death.” It’s just a matter of time before someone stamps “PAID” on dogfighting participants, whether it’s their fellow low-lifes or law enforcement.

Neighborhood Association Candidates Forum This Thursday!

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

As promised during the podcast, here’s more info on the candidates forum, courtesy of an e-mail sent to the Fairmount neighborhood association:

Our city councilwoman, Wendy Davis, is stepping down after several years of service to Farimount and the south side. Six candidates are vying for your vote in the upcoming November 6 election. Who among the six political hopefuls will speak for you, and will be the most suitable to cover the issues that are relevant to Fairmount?

Your chance to decide when the candidates speak to you in the joint neighborhood forum to be held on Thursday, Oct. 18th at 7 p.m. at the Travis Ave. Baptist Church community center on Berry at Hemphill.

Mary Dulle; mkdulle@msn.com is gathering questions to send but you need to be quick, questions need to be submitted by the end of tomorrow, Tues 16th Oct. The candidates will each make a 2-minute presentation, then the moderator will ask questions of the candidates (selected from the questions submitted in advance). Question will then be taken from the floor.
